I’ve decided that I’m going to talk about becoming a successful online marketer. The reason is,  just about everything you can sell, you can sell more of if you are good at online marketing. So, let this be the first of many posts about a topic that baffles many well meaning marketers.

To do this, I am going to use a book as a study guide. It’s called “Success Secrets of the Online Marketing Superstars“, so buy it now if you want to follow along. I’m going to review it section by section, digging deeper and getting into the nitty-gritty of the topics of this book.

Lately I have been obsessed with learning the secrets to network marketing. I have been studying and reading stories from people that make quiet fortunes every month through their involvement in network marketing. From what I can tell, network marketing is totally legit, but not for everyone. Anyone can do it, but for some it is easier than others. If you have a sales or marketing background, then you will tend to understand how this works faster than those who do not.

The complicated part is in grasping the big picture, so you can see how each pice fits together. Once you have that part down, you will want to brush up on how to create a webpage. Beyond that, follow the prescribed plan, throw in a healthy dose of innovation, and you too make be making 6 figures within a year.

In order to be successful in any MLM business, you have to partner up with people that are doing it effectively using tools that you too would like to use. There are many approaches to MLM success, and finding some that you are comfortable with will literally make you or break you.

Many MLM businesses tell you to make a list of your friends and family, approach them and try to get them to sign up. If not, maybe they can tell you about someone else who might be interested. If you are comfortable with that approach, then sign-up with them. If not, then explore your options. Some (like myself), prefer to market exclusively online. If you prefer that method, and have some aptitude with the Internet, then sign-up with me at my GRN program, and my .WS Program.

The thing is, it becomes in your sponsors best interest to help you succeed. So you have to partner with someone who will give you the tools you need to get this thing going. Being a professional webmaster and online marketing specialist for the last ten years puts me a unique position to provide you with just those tools. Are the others able to provide that?

I have been researching and practicing online marketing for nearly ten years now. What I have found, is that just about anything can be made popular on the Internet by marketing it correctly. No matter what business you are in, online marketing can significantly increase your sales. The best part is, most of the work that you do online, costs little to no money.

Of course, the real key to any campaign is perseverance. It takes time to build your brand, and time to gain consistent traffic on your web site. But once you have it, money just continues to flow in. But you have to get started. You have to work the web. You have to drive mass traffic to your website.

This blog category is going to be all about that. The ins and out of online marketing. Effective campaigns on a shoestring budget can be nearly as effective as larger campaigns requiring more budget. It all depends on what you are doing, how you are doing it, and how often.

While these techniques will work with any business, I have chosen to concentrate my examples toward multi-level marketing. Many MLM opportunities work extremely well when aggressively promoted online, and the generous commissions available make this aggressive promotion, well worth the effort.

I have had the pleasure and sometimes displeasure of working with both Wordpress (this blog), and Movable Type (http://www.straightupsearch.com). Both are very good platforms, but for the price, I’m going with Wordpress. Movable Type is nearly $1000 dollars for a 20 author license. $300 for a basic license. Wordpress is free for everybody, all the time.
Movable Type is done completely in perl, and has it’s own proprietary templating codes which allows you a lot of flexibility when building custom templates. With Wordpress, you are working in a standard php environment. Wordpress is updated frequently and has seemingly endless resources available for adding style and function to your blog.

MT has it’s up’s and downs, but the cost vs the competition blows it out of the water.

The firebug firefox extension allows you to edit in real time your CSS code. Instead of having to make a change, reload, make a change, reload you can just edit it live to see the results.
