I have had the pleasure and sometimes displeasure of working with both Wordpress (this blog), and Movable Type (http://www.straightupsearch.com). Both are very good platforms, but for the price, I’m going with Wordpress. Movable Type is nearly $1000 dollars for a 20 author license. $300 for a basic license. Wordpress is free for everybody, all the time.
Movable Type is done completely in perl, and has it’s own proprietary templating codes which allows you a lot of flexibility when building custom templates. With Wordpress, you are working in a standard php environment. Wordpress is updated frequently and has seemingly endless resources available for adding style and function to your blog.
MT has it’s up’s and downs, but the cost vs the competition blows it out of the water.

I tend to really enjoy snowmobiling near my home just outside of Traverse City, MI. There is enough snow for a really good ride. But during last summer, we moved to a new house on the other side of town. This new house is not at all close to the snowmobile trails like the last house was. Additionally, I don’t have snow pants this year, so i get cold pretty fast. I feel bad that I haven’t been riding as much this year as I did last year. Hopefully, I can get properly outfitted and then go ride with some of the guys around here so I can find out where I’m going.
Yeah, so it’s here! This is the first post across all four of the first categories! When this blog starts getting mad traffic and becomes successful, if you look hard enough, you will find this, the first post, from way back when.
